Hannah Ritchie is Deputy Editor at Our World in Data, the online publication that brings together the latest data and research on the world’s largest problems. Her research focuses on environmental sustainability – in particular, on climate change and energy systems. She also focuses on how environmental solutions intersect with socioeconomic development – and how to pursue both at the same time. Her work appears regularly on the BBC, Wired, Vox, Washington Post, Scientific American, and other media outlets.

She is a senior Researcher in the Programme for Global Development at the University of Oxford, and an honorary fellow at the University of Edinburgh and Edinburgh Centre for Carbon Innovation. She holds a BSc in Environmental Geoscience, MSc in Carbon Management, and PhD, all from the University of Edinburgh.
