Ember’s China Energy Transition Review 2025 explores the country’s accelerating shift from a coal-fuelled powerhouse to a clean electrification leader.
To mark the launch of China Energy Transition Review 2025, Ember and the International Society for Energy Transition Studies (ISETS) hosted two webinars to unpack the report’s key findings. The report tracks China’s evolution from a coal-fuelled powerhouse to a clean electrification leader, with new evidence that clean power met over 84% of new electricity demand in 2024 and fossil generation is nearing its peak.
The report also highlights China’s growing influence on the global electrification process. By deploying clean technologies at record scale, from solar panels and batteries to EVs and heat pumps, China has reshaped cost curves, driven rapid innovation, and enabled emerging markets to leapfrog to clean energy systems. In doing so, it is not only decarbonising its own economy but accelerating the world’s transition.
To accommodate global audiences, Ember hosted two webinars, one for Asia, Africa and Europe time zones and one for Europe and the Americas.
