About
Ember’s Europe Electricity Interconnection data tool allows users to explore the use (flows) and potential (capacity) of the cross-border transmission grid across European and neighbouring countries.
The data covers 51 countries and includes:
Interconnection capacities and import potentials by country for 2024, 2030 and 2040:
- Best-estimate
- High scenario – all interconnection projects scheduled by 2030 or 2040 to come online as planned
- Viable needs – interconnection capacity that would minimize system costs (available for 2030 and 2040)
Flow patterns between countries – best-estimate only
Renewable generation and net export patterns by country – best-estimate only
The tool aims to make this data accessible – to support analysis on the impact of interconnectors and help identify the gaps that must be addressed to achieve a more efficient power system.
