The electrification rate is one key metric to track a country’s electrification level. The electrification rate is the proportion of electricity in the total energy system. Recognising this, the COP31 presidency has proposed an electrification target, to raise the share of final energy demand met by electricity from just over 20% today to 35% by 2035. This tracker tracks all advanced discussions for countries or regional blocks looking to implement an electrification target. It doesn’t track sectorial electrification targets, like EV targets.
There are currently 2 electrification targets.
