Countries with lower grid congestion are expected to see double the data centre growth as developers chase new markets
Brussels, 19 June 2025 – Strategic electricity grid planning is emerging as a deciding factor for which European countries will attract economic opportunities linked to data centres and AI, according to a new report from global energy think tank Ember.
Analysis from Ember finds that new markets for data centres, such as the Nordics and countries in southern Europe, are expected to see data centre demand grow (+110%) at nearly double the rate of traditional market leaders Frankfurt, London, Amsterdam, Paris and Dublin (+55%) by 2030.
