Climate Group and Ember partner to accelerate global clean electrification

Climate Group and Ember, the global energy think tank, announced a knowledge partnership around two major events to strengthen the evidence base behind the clean electrification transition.

11 May 2026

The collaboration comes at a pivotal moment for the global power sector. Renewables now account for over a third of global electricity generation, overtaking coal for the first time. Solar alone delivered its 21st consecutive year as the fastest-growing power source. Clean energy added a record 887 TWh of new generation in 2025, slightly exceeding global demand growth and preventing any increase in fossil fuel output for the first time.

At the same time, electricity demand is rising fast. Global power consumption grew by 849 TWh in 2025, driven increasingly by structural electrification: EVs, heat pumps, data centres, and industry shifting away from fossil fuels. Meeting this demand with clean power requires not just more power capacity, but sharper and evidence-based corporate and policy strategies, exactly the gap this partnership aims to address.

Through the partnership, Ember will provide Climate Group’s events with analytical support, research, and expert input on energy trends across key markets.

The energy debate has moved on. The question is no longer whether solar and batteries will reshape Asia’s energy systems, but how fast. Corporate demand for clean power is accelerating that timeline in ways policy alone never could. That’s exactly the conversation Ember’s data is built to sharpen.

Our events are leading platforms for climate discussions and decisions. These conversations should always be based on the latest relevant data, so it’s extremely exciting to be working with Ember, and amplify their world-leading insights. By ensuring Ember’s data reaches the right audience at the highest level, together we can shape decisions and action that will speed up the transition away from fossil fuels. The recent conflict has only emphasised how important and stabilising clean electrification is to achieving energy security for governments and businesses.
