Dr Muyi Yang is responsible for leveraging Ember’s analytical capacity to promote the transition towards a clean and more sustainable energy future in China and beyond.


He holds positions as an Adjunct Fellow at the Australia-China Relations Institute (ACRI) in the University of Technology Sydney and serves as the Secretary of the International Society for Energy Transition Studies (ISETS). Additionally, Dr. Yang holds a role as a non-resident Senior Policy Fellow at Asia Society Australia.

Drawing from his extensive experience in teaching, research, and consulting, Dr. Yang specialises in energy policy across China, Southeast Asia, and Oceania.

His areas of expertise encompass electricity market reform, clean energy finance, coal power phase-down, transport electrification, energy governance, and political economy.
