Within Ember’s Global Programme team, Elisabeth coordinates research on power networks, unifying regional analyses to assess global infrastructure readiness for the clean energy transition. She pioneered Ember’s work on grids and laid the groundwork for its evolution into a core organisational workstream.
In her current role, she focuses on identifying systemic infrastructure challenges across regions, developing practical grid assessment frameworks, and making infrastructure investment needs clearer and more actionable for energy system actors. Her portfolio spans grid investment, interconnectors, flexibility, storage, and digital infrastructure.
With nearly a decade of experience in energy policy, Elisabeth specialises in aligning infrastructure development with decarbonisation, competitiveness, and energy security goals. This includes five years leading Ember’s research on European grid infrastructure, during which she also co-convened the Stakeholder Reference Group advising the European Network of Transmission System Operators on long-term network planning. Before joining Ember in 2021, she was the Lead Energy Systems Modeller at Malta’s national energy agency.
